A bank that no longer exists

Equa bank mortgage: what happened to it

Equa bank no longer exists. Raiffeisenbank took it over, and clients and their mortgages transferred automatically. Here is what that means for your contract, and where to arrange a new mortgage today.

Does Equa bank still exist?

No. Equa bank ceased to exist when it merged with Raiffeisenbank. Legally on 1 January 2022; clients and their products transferred to the new infrastructure in November 2022.

All rights, obligations, clients and staff transferred to Raiffeisenbank, and Equa bank was removed from the Commercial Register.

If you search for an Equa bank mortgage today, you are searching for a bank that has not operated for three years. The offer you remember was taken over by Raiffeisenbank.

What happened to my existing mortgage?

It transferred automatically to Raiffeisenbank. You did not need to sign anything or apply for anything.

What did not change: the borrowing rate, the length of the fixed-rate period, the repayment amount and the term all stayed as in the original contract. The merger is not a reason for new terms.

What did change: the recipient of your repayments and the internet banking you use to manage the loan. Accounts moved under the bank code 5500.

That the contracts transferred without changes to their terms is also shown by the fact that Raiffeisenbank still publishes Equa bank's original mortgage product terms on its own website. Checked 21. 9. 2026.

Where do I arrange a new mortgage today?

With Raiffeisenbank, which took over Equa bank's offer and merged it with its own. We have set out its terms on our Raiffeisenbank mortgage page.

Our adviser will arrange a mortgage with Raiffeisenbank for you. The contract with the bank is theirs, not ours. They will also compare the offer with other banks for you.

You can calculate the repayment right here, without giving your contact details. You pay nothing; the bank pays the adviser. How much they receive, we will tell you on request.

My fixed-rate period from the old contract is ending, what now?

Raiffeisenbank will send you an offer for a new rate, because it is your bank now. The same applies as for the end of any other fixed-rate period.

The first offer tends to be worse than what the bank gives new clients, and worse than what the competition offers. It is worth comparing it, not just signing it. We cover this on our remortgaging page.

At the end of the fixed-rate period, switching to another bank also comes without compensation for costs, so comparing offers costs you nothing.
